Here’s my list of amazing things happening in Calgary this month. Have fun + shop local! Also, spread the good word to your friends.

♥ The Vixens of Vintage Holiday Market. All things vintage inspired, upcycled vintage, TRUE vintage or anything with an old school panache, public market. Over 70 vendors for all of your holiday shopping. Saturday November 14, 9:00am - 5:00pm. $3 admission.

Make + Mingle: Festive Garlands Workshop. Prepare a handmade holiday with lots of nostalgia in this DIY garland workshop, taught by Lacey Haskell of Feathering My Nest. Three different styles – pom-pom, tissue paper, and glitter word garlands – will be taught and you’ll still have enough time to adorn every mantlepiece and nook with your handiwork. November 16, 6:30-8:30pm.

Modern Manners: Preparing Your Home For the Holidays. From the front door to the living & entertaining areas of your home, DaDe Art & Design Lab helps you prep your home for the holiday season. The evening ends with you creating and taking a custom arranged modern wreath home to enjoy for the holiday season. November 17, 7:00-9:00pm.

Bridgeland-Riverside Holiday Market. Join the Bridgeland Riverside Farmers’ Market for the very first Holiday Markets! These markets will take place inside the BRCA Hall and will feature regular farmers’ market vendors alongside artisan vendors. Shop local this year and make a difference! Admission is free and we are accepting non-perishable food items for the Calgary Food Bank. Friday November 20th, 7pm-10pm + Saturday November 21st, 10am-3pm.

Building Iconomy: Possibilities for a West Coast Modern Building. Is there west coast modern on the prairies? Join Design.Talks for a discussion on the blurring of indoors and outdoos, open plans and glass as we explore the modernist style that emerged in the mid 20th century. Focused on a building known as the Lacey Court, we’ll hear about the history behind J.Stevenson & Associates and what Calgary was like in the 1950’s. They will also explore the possibilities for an adaptive reuse of the Lacey Court building from three perspectives, a conversation on the complex challenges to adaptive reuse while accommodating pressures to growth. November 25th. 6:00pm. $12 Adult / $5 Student.

House of Nonie Popup @ Bamboo Ballroom. Come check out and order your SS16 Nonie piece at Bamboo Ballroom in Inglewood! There will also be a few remaining piece’s from AW15 available to take home. November 26, 6:00-9:00pm.

The Social Summit. The Social Summit is an event organized in Calgary to help entrepreneurs, non-profits, and small businesses tackle their social media and PR needs. This year I am a panelist on the Media Panel and I cannot wait to share any insights I have with attendees. November 25-27. Tickets here.

My favourite new spots:

Native Tongues: This Mexican-inspired dining room is the real deal for authentic eats. Not only do they have delicious menu items like the Pescado Tacos el Carbon but they also have exquisite cocktails like Mezcalgarita. They are super accommodating for gluten-free folks, a huge plus for me when dining at a new restaurant. They are located at the Beltline Marriott, meaning if you eat too much (or drink too much) you can book a room upstairs and fully indulge your food coma. 235 12th Avenue SW

Suzette Bistro: There is nothing quite as quaint as Suzette Bistro. Inspired by Brittany region in France (where crepes originate) this darling eaterie is my new favourite. It also just happens to be in my neighbourhood which makes it even more perfect. Their savoury galettes are my favourite - try the Norvégienne - smoked salmon, leek & cream. It so delicious. I feel like this is also a great place to pop by in the evening for a delicious sweet crepe and a crisp glass of cider. 2210 4th Street SW
