PARKLUXE RECAP

One of the best things about Calgary is the unending support for local and Canadian designers. I’m not sure if it is because we are just hungry for anything new and exciting or whether or city has become a great centre for incubating talented and creative people. It could be both - either way it is good news for people like me who love being able to see something amazing make it’s way down the catwalk.

PARKLUXE is no exception to that special brand of amazing. Presented by Bankers Hall this year, the event was a stunning success. Held at the East Village’s Riverwalk right beside the Simmons building, the magical night went down underneath a big white tent. I love this image that PARK shared on their Facebook page later that night - the beautiful stillness of the space before nearly 1000 people descended on the runway for a night of fashion, bubbly and friends. I had a great time hanging out in the VIP Lounge with some other media and blogger friends. I had my hair touched up by the lovely girls from Hedkandi Salon and toasted the night with some delicious champagne.

The show itself was incredible. I loved seeing talented designers from across Canada like Vancouver’s Eliza Faulkner and Travis Taddeo (Montreal) grace the runway. My front row seat was the perfect spot to people-watch, Snapchat my whole experience and enjoy the music, lights and fashion. Other favourites from the evening included my local fave House of Nonie as well as Caitlin Power, Laura Siegel, Paul Hardy and Malorie Urbanovitch. There are so many things that have now been added to my list to buy. I don’t need to say it again but there was some serious talent there!

PARKSHOW Edmonton is up next for the PARK crew. If you are in town you won’t want to miss it on December 5th. I’m already starting the countdown for the 2016 show!
